What is a Bandana?
A Bandana is a part of true Americana. It is a square scarf or handkerchief with traditional “bandana paisley scrolling” on the outer frame, with a solid or lightly printed center square. Bandanas appeared in the Old West and were used by cowboys and ranchers to protect their necks from the sun, and to protect their mouths and noses against dust. Bandanas were also worn by the western pioneers to protect their heads and hold their hair in the winds. Throughout American history, the ever-adaptable bandana has been used and worn by people from all walks of life – rock stars, athletes, motorcycle bikers, campers, hunters, fisherman, ranchers, laborers, fashion-conscious people, pets, and many more. Whether worn on the head or neck, used as a handkerchief or hand-towel, symbolically waved in the air, displayed as a memento, used as gear in camping, or given as a token of achievement, the Bandana is a versatile and forever ingrained part of our American culture and history.
What are the uses for a Bandana?
A bandana can be worn as a scarf tied on the head (either open in the back or tucked in to the back), as a headband or sweatband on top of the head or on the forehead, as a scarf on the neck, as a handkerchief, as a hand towel in the pocket, as a waving flag for show of spirit, as a hat band tied around a hat, as a decorative item for display in your car or home or on your motorcycle, worn on a pet, worn on a stuffed animal, used as gear in camping, given as a token of affection or rememberance, autographed by friends at a camp or event, and any other way you want to use this versatile item.
